e-Books: My EBSCOhost

A guide to finding and accessing e-Books at Gateway Seminary Library.

Reminder:

In order to access full text e-books and articles, you must have your Gateway Library account set up! These accounts are separate from what you set up for the seminary and class registration.

EBSCO

When you click on the the e-book access link you will be taken to the vendor's page for the item. The image below comes from EBSCO's collection.

The link to the PDF Full Text is circled in red. Circled in blue are two interesting things to note.

First, there is a section for the table of contents-- sometimes the contents gives you a clearer picture of what a text holds than the description does.

Second, EBSCO provides some nifty tools that you may find helpful, especially the ability to create folders (which are only saved if you log into an EBSCO account, so be sure to set that up), and the ability to get a computer-generated citation for the text. Always double check the citations against the Chicago/Turabian standards because sometimes the computer can make mistakes.

This is the EBSCO eReader interface. The full text PDF is in the larger column to the right with the table of contents links to the left. Note that the tools from the previous page are now at the top of this page. You may need to click the elipses ( . . . ) to expand the list, depending on the size of your browser window. Also notice at the top of the left column that you can search within the text as well as make your own notes about the text.

Remember, if you want to have full access to EBSCO's handy tools (like saving those pages to folders), you will need to create a new EBSCOhost account or link your existing account to the Gateway Seminary Library account. Instructions are in the left column of this guide.
